First Publicly Witnessed US Soldier Repatriation Since 1991

In February 1991, President HW Bush established a policy banning media coverage of the repatriation of fallen US servicemen. In February 2009, President Barack Obama overturned the policy. It will now be up to the families of the fallen servicemen to permit or deny media coverage. The first family to allow the media present at their son's repatriation was that of Staff Sgt. Phillip Myers of Hopewell, VA, 30, who died April 4, 2009 in Afghanistan.
