Petroleum Engineering - Annual Student Paper contest
The Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering will host its annual Student Paper in the Richardson Petroleum Building and the Civil Engineering Building. More than 350 petroleum engineering students (juniors, seniors and graduate students) will give technical presentations to industry judges. Aggie petroleum engineering students have an impressive record of winning at the Gulf Coast Section Regional and at the Society of Petroleum Engineers International levels, winning more than any other university. The objective of the contest is to assist students in developing proficiency in presentation of technical or research projects in oral and written form. Many Texas A&M former students and industrial supporters regard Texas a&ms contest as one of the most important professional development opportunities for students. Industry support continues to be strong for this competition, and company and individual donations will allow the department to award more than $26000 in prize money this year. In addition, more than 100 industry representatives will hear and judge the presentations. Runoffs will be held to determine who will represent the department at the Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral levels at the Gulf Coast Section Regional Competition, which will be hosted this year by Texas Tech University.
